Giliocean Technology
Climate One-Liner
GiliOcean grows fish in their natural habitat, improving fish welfare while minimizing impact on the marine environment. Moving further offshore, they also free nearshore and coastal areas for other uses, providing more space, where aquaculture production can expand to meet the increasing demand for healthy protein and food security. By incorporating advanced technologies into a traditional industry, GiliOcean Technology manages to optimize all levels of the fish-feed value chain which is the no. 1 cause of fish-farming carbon footprint.
Description
GiliOcean Technology designed, manufactured, operated and managed the world's largest open-ocean commercial fish farm. Moving fish out to the open ocean, their natural habitat, where the oxygen levels are ideal, and the natural micro-elements help the fish grow faster and healthier, with a negligible, to no use of antibiotics.
GO SMART, GiliOcean's smart farming division, uses AI, machine-learning and big-data to analyze the water quality as well as fish biomass, mortality, and behavior. Providing crucial continuous information for farmers, they can then make precise data-based decisions, better manage, and monitor fish stock. This leads to increased efficiency, better crop yield and lower environmental impact.
