Bugera

Climate One-Liner

BugEra's novel strain oil production has an 80% lower carbon footprint compared to crops oils (soy, corn, palm) used in the biofuel industry.

Description

BugEra (Bugheera) - Insect Biotechnology for a Sustainable Future is a highly-disruptive technology advancing sustainable goals by leveraging the power of the Black Soldier Fly (BSF) to new applications and markets.
BSF is a marvelous and harmless insect, a bioreactor that is used to close circular economy loops by efficient upcycling of organic waste (including manure), into high-quality protein and oil.
BugEra specializes in a patent-pending genetic engineering platform, which allows them to develop multiple novel BSF strains for multiple new markets
BSF’s oil is ideal for lipid-based biofuels like biodiesel, renewable diesel, and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
BugEra’s first novel strain, BSFX2, seeks to expand the BSF market (insect farming) to the biofuels industry by greatly increasing the oil content of the BSF larvae. Thus providing novel, alternative, and the most sustainable lipids biomass to satisfy the huge demand in the "green fuel" industry.
